Papercut is a commissioned live performance by 1999Q that will be premiered at Finnmark Flicker. Papercut addresses the questions of personal experience of forced migration through visualisation and sonification of interactions with papers and documents. The visuals are textured fragments of official document covers and surfaces viewed through a microscope. While the soundscape is created through the recognizable rustling of papers through contact microphones, as well as escalating low frequencies of drone sound.

1999Q is an experimental sound and visual artist based in Kirkenes. His current artistic interests focus on questions of flickering identity, social and cultural alienation, in the context of geopolitical turbulence and distortions of individual and collective memory.
